About our Stand-Up Comedy Classes
Level 1 Stand-Up
Write and perform jokes that work! Forget everything you thought you knew about stand-up. Start with the fundamentals of joke structure and writing to build good habits. Work on performance techniques to keep your audience engaged without welcoming unwanted interruptions. Receive coaching and feedback from working professional comics who are rooting for your success. By the end of the 8-week class you will have a strong 5-minute set and the skills to perform it successfully! This is the perfect class for total beginners to get started and for established performers wanting to level up their skills.
Level 2 Stand-Up
You wrote your first 5 minutes of material in Level 1 Stand-Up and are ready for a bigger challenge. Now it’s time to try performing a 10 minute set! Start learning and experimenting with complex theories of joke writing that only work when you have more time to perform them. Get personalized feedback from your instructor to push you out of your comfort zone. Identify your natural talents so you can challenge yourself to try new things. By the end of the class you will have 15 minutes of material under your belt with plenty more jokes in development!
Advanced Electives
Characters: Creating Funny People
Level up your act outs in this special elective course!
Whether you’re an improviser, sketch performer, stand-up comedian, storyteller, or developing a solo show, memorable characters make every comedy performance stronger. This eight-week intensive introduces The 70, a practical character creation system, and guides students through the process of writing, rewriting, staging, testing, and refining an original character monologue. The course culminates in a live grad show performance in the Club Theater.
Students will leave the course with a repeatable process for creating original comedy characters, practical tools for developing original, performance-ready material, and the confidence to bring their characters to life in any comedy medium.
Social Media for Comedians
If social media feels overwhelming, random, or you keep saying “I really need to start posting,” this course is for you. You’re already performing, so use what you’re already doing to make more money, grow your brand, and share your talents with the world!
